The issue is, I’m not sure that I would want to bear my boyfriend’s children. While he is incredibly intelligent and has a great personality, he is markedly less physically attractive than I am.

If we no longer enjoy the uproars and the withering screeds of yesteryear, it’s mainly because people no longer care passionately enough about what they hear in the concert hall to want to murder somebody over it.

And this is what I saw. Only pictures from either AP, Reuters, Getty and a little bit of EPA. All wire services, nothing else.[…] It’s plain censorship. Economical censorship, maybe but still censorship.[…]

On election night, my mother watched Obama’s victory overtaken by emotion. She can still remember the first black person she ever saw on television, when she was a teenager on the black side of the segregated South. On that same election night, my 14-year-old nephew - raised in a world where God can look like Morgan Freeman - grew so bored that he begged to change the channel.

Her work “The Male Cycle” creeps me out. Opposed to the clumsy and gimmicky Berlin Photoshop adbusting that’s setting the blogworld abuzz, “The Male Cycle” really gets you thinking about how images of desire and beauty are created. It would do so even without the gender role reversal, which nonetheless works out very well.
